Apartment A3, Portal 50, Block 15, Arenal Duquesa,
Carretera el Peñoncillo nº 71
La Duquesa
29691 Manilva

The apartment is easy to reach by Road, Sea or plane (if you have a private jet!).

We find the easiest way to get there (if travelling from abroad) is by Plane to Malaga Airport (AGP) and then hire a car to get you down the coast to the apartment. Flights to and from Malaga Airport from a lot of European destinations are frequent, even in off season and most Budget Airlines fly there from the UK (Jet2, Easyjet, Ryanair, BMI baby, etc), our recommendation from East Midlands Airport is Jet2. Cheap, and sometimes you get your bags in the hold for free if the flight is busy – Ryanair- take note!

You can fly to Gibraltar and drive up the coast from there, but it can be difficult to get into Spain from there and Car Hire can be expensive. Gibraltar is recommended for a day trip – see Things to do.

Fly to Malaga Airport, and then hire a car – see below

By Car

From Malaga Airport

Please allow about an hour for this 90km (60 mile) journey. The exit from the airport takes you to a roundabout. Travelling East, signposted Malaga (E-15, A-7), Cadiz (A-7) and San Julian take the dual carriageway and keep in right hand lane (San Miguel beer factory to your right) for  about 200 metres (signpost showing N-340) – keep right and take the slip road showing N-340, MA-21 towards Torremelinos/Cadiz.

Join Carriageway of MA-21 and continue straight. Passing end of Airport runway on right and then further on IKEA on left, this is signposted as towards Torremelinos/Algeciras (E-15, A-7).  Keep in right hand lane and as you pass the Car dealerships on the right (BMW, Subaru, then Porsche), take the exit signposted Benalmadena/Algeciras (E-15, A-7).

From here, you have two options, use the motorway (A-7) all the way and pay Toll Charges, or avoid the tolls by using the Coast road (N-340). In the Summer it is worth paying the €12 -€15 to avoid the traffic and the terrible driving by the Spanish. In off season the coast road makes a pleasant drive along the Coast and only adds about 15 mins on the journey.

Driving in Spain

Spanish drivers do not seem that bothered about dents or scratches to their cars, unfortunatley Hire Car Companies do! Whilst most try and get you to add insurances when you collect the keys, if you do not pay the extra insurance, you will generally be expected to leave a large deposit on your credit card.

We have included some links to Car Hire companies that are located inside the terminal at Malaga (AGP) airport, and although we have not tried them all, we can recommend Atesa Cars (which is now part of Enterprise Group) as they just charge for what you need. Goldcar are very efficient, but you MUST read their small print on collecting and dropping off cars outside their normal hours
